Ashraf was sent top of the batting order, as an opening partner for Fakhar Zaman in the fourth ODI, as a replacement for Imam ul Haq, who injured his finger during a practice session.
However, the move back fired as Ashraf was dismissed cheaply on one run while facing nine deliveries. He was also costly with the ball giving out 33 runs while picking up no wicket in his spell of six overs.
With the series 4-0 in favour of New Zealand, Pakistan would play the last ODI of the series on Friday at Wellington.
