Secretary General of Jamhoori Watan Party Rauf Khan Sasoli has said that military operation in Balochistan should immediately be stopped and missing persons released without further delay, and federation should enter into new social contract with different nationalities through dialogue and political process.
Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, he said that neither Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package was implemented nor jobs were provided to unemployed youths, and the current regime had betrayed Baloch people like the previous ones.
He stressed the need for formation of a powerful independent representative commission to implement Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package, NFC Award and 18th amendment in letter and spirit with an aim to bridge the trust-deficit between Baloch people and the federation.
Sasoli said sincere negotiations should be held with annoyed Baloch leaders to bring them back into national mainstream. He vehemently condemned target killings and assassination of educationists, describing it a conspiracy to keep the people of Balochistan illiterate.
He was of the view that Baloch people are facing problems such as denial of right to self-determination, governmental transmigration policies, cultural and economic oppression, exploitation of resources and denial of freedom of expression.
He warned that the province cannot be run through colonial approach as the conflict have gone through different stages over the years and now, the situation is very critical due to the ongoing great game in the region.
The JWP leader lamented the exploitation of Balochistan's natural resources and construction of Gwadar port against the interests and will of Baloch people, demanding that indigenous population be given autonomy to control and utilise their resources. He expressed deep concerns over the condition of the Baloch people, forced to become 'internally displaced persons' in their own homeland.
He emphasised the need to take serious notice of the changing situation to genuinely address the grievances of Balochistan through dialogue and political process before it is too late.
