FAISALABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) rally led by its Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari started from Bilawal House Lahore on Thursday morning reached here.
A lukewarm reception was accorded to Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on his arrival in the city. Although the city was decorated with banners and hoardings yet the public participation was dismally poor.
The rally reached the city through GT Road via Khurarianwala, Gattwala, Canal Road, Railway Station Chowk, Chenab Club Chowk and Hilal-e-Ahmar Chowk.
PPP workers showered rose-petals on Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other leaders who reached in a special truck once used by Benazir Bhutto Shaheed.
Entire route of the rally from Khurarianwala to Faisalabad and District Council Chowk were decorated with PPP flags and portraits of PPP Central Leaders Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, Begum Nusrat Bhutto, Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Nadeem Afzal Chan.
PPP Central Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira, General Secretary Nadeem Afzal Chan, Secretary Information Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Central President Labour Wing Ch Manzoor Ahmed, PPP District President Ch Tariq Mahmood Bajwa, City President Rana Mushtaq Ahmed, divisional and district leaders Nawab Sher Wasir, Noorul Nisa Malik, Ismaeel Seela, Rana Aftab Ahmed Khan and others were also with the rally.
The district administration made foolproof security arrangements and deployed heavy contingent of police on different roads in the city as well as at District Council Chowk.
Special traffic wardens were also deployed on the route of rally to manage traffic.
Regional Police Officer Bilal Siddique, SSP Operation Rana Masoom, CPO Afzaal Ahmed Kausar and Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani also monitored security arrangements.
