imageAcademy award winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy recently hosted Bollywood ace director Karan Johar at the 47th World Economic Forum in Davos and believe it or not they both had some really intense one-on-one conversation.

The event titled A Conversation with Karan Johar and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy' on 18th January 2017 at Davos-Klosters, was a well-received incident and was live-streamed on different websites. Here are few high points of the session.

Talking about winning Oscar for a short-film, KJo praised Pakistani filmmaker and said, "I remember your acceptance speech [at the Oscars] Sharmeen and I remember feeling really, really proud as a filmmaker that your film travelled the way it did, the point and perspective it made, and more than anything else... I think the result of what happened... that's what every artist aspires for, the impact of his or her work".

Sharmeen too praised the Bollywood director and said that his movies have allowed everyone to dream.

While talking about the cross-border tension between the two nations, and how Karan Johar faces criticisms for casting Fawad Khan in his movies, Sharmeen said, "We as artists have to be true to our hearts... And do the things that we want to do. I really hope that someday I can go on the big screen and watch Fawad Khan directed by you again".

KJo said, "You know what I went through. It was a tough time for me. I have a great regard for talent and I have a great regard for Fawad Khan's talent which is why he's been in two of our films. The circumstances... we don't know where we're heading, and I think all great actors should find the best platforms and just like you I hope Fawad Khan finds the best platform because he's a terrific actor. Having said that, I never want to go through what I went at that time".

During the Q&A session, an audience member asked them why due to a ban on actors across the border, a consumer has to suffer. Sharmeen responded that the bans are self-imposed and rather unofficial, adding that they are regarded as a form of patriotism. No one is in the favour of self-inflicted pain.
