Under the Healthy Punjab Programme of Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, a 110-bed five-storey emergency block with X-Ray, ECG, City Scan, all diagnostic tests and immediate operations facilities for serious patients has been constructed in Lahore General Hospital.
Postgraduate Medical Institute, LGH, Principal Professor Dr Sajjad Hussain stated this in a briefing on hospital's performance during ten months of current financial year at the hospital on Sunday.
He said hospital's performance can be well judged at its emergency department, adding that new block has all modern health-care facilities and is fully air-conditioned and computerised, while close circuit cameras have also been installed to monitor the working of the staff.
The principal said the emergency staff has been directed to provide treatment to serious patient even before issuing of emergency slip.
Professor Sajjad said the patients turnout in the hospital had significantly been increased, adding that hospital's emergency and outdoor departments extended free treatment facilities to over 5,50,000 patients, and 28,000 minor and major operations conducted during ten months. He also said the hospital's gynae department was doing caesarean operations of poor women free of cost.
Professor Sajjad said patients did not go to private hospitals or laboratories as the LGH installed modern diagnostic equipment. He further said, the hospital conducted 94,835 X-Ray, 17,144 CT scans, 5,643 MRI, 31,698 ultrasound and 2,314 dialysis.
