Vice Chief of Army Staff, General Ahsan Saleem Hayat on Monday visited Wana and other tribal areas in Waziristan, where he met officers, JCOs and men of various units. Upon arrival at Wana, he was received by Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Safdar Hussain. He was given detailed briefing on socio-economic conditions of the area and the military situation by General Officer Commanding, Nine Division.
The briefing also included various developmental works being undertaken by the army towards uplift of the Waziristan Agency.
The Vice Chief of Army Staff appreciated efforts of the army and said that people residing in Pata are our own and the army will do its utmost to improve their quality of life. He said that the ongoing operations in Wana and surrounding areas are aimed to rid the area of terrorists and foreigners involved in anti-state activities, which no worthwhile state tolerates.
Thereafter, he visited Nanu, Karwan Manza, Bosh arai, Mana and Jarobi. He met troops of various units deployed in these areas and lauded their perseverance and efforts both in developmental works and operations against foreign militants/terrorists.
