KARACHI: Chairperson Sindh Board of Investment (SBI), Ms. Naheed Memon has called for providing electricity, gas and other facilities to three Special Economic Zones that were already approved in 2014, situated in Khairpur, Bin Qasim and Konrangi.
This she observed in a meeting of Special Economic Zones Approval Committee held Thursday in Islamabad, said a statement here.
She said that having approved special Economic zones in Khairpur, Bin Qasim and Korangi Industrial Park in 2014, they must get legally all facilities.
She added 350 MM Cubic Feet Gas is produced daily in Khairpur but per day required just 3.5 MM Cubic Feet Gas is not provided to Khairpur Special Economic Zone and due to this situation, the investors were facing difficulties.
The issues of land, electricity and non availability of other facilities are also prevailed in Korangi and Bin Qasim Special Economic Zones, she said.
The Chairperson Naheed Memon said that before giving approval of new special economic zones in other provinces, the already existing three special economic zones in Sindh be provided all necessary facilities.
It is to mention here that the meeting of Special Economic Zones Approval Committee was held in Islamabad under Board of Investment Pakistan. In this meeting, head of Board of Investments of all Provinces and Federal and representative of other concerned departments were also presented.
