President Hamid Karzai has replaced two governors and five security commanders in the north-west of Afghanistan in a bid to strengthen reforms, an official said on Wednesday.
The latest shake-up comes just weeks after two other governors were removed from their positions in south eastern Zabul and Paktika provinces.
"In order to create a sound administration, the Ministry of Interior suggested the appointment of a number of governors and security commanders and the president signed it," a ministry press officer said.
"Mohammed Yusuf has been appointed as the governor of Farah province and Abdullah Aziz as the governor of Badghis," Sulhdost said.
The two governors removed from their positions in the latest shake-up will reassigned but it has not been decided where they will go, he said.
The five security commanders will be replaced in the provinces of Samangan, Sari Pul and Kunduz all in the north and Logar and Wardak which surround Kabul.
A state television report said the Interior Ministry's chief of staff had also been replaced.
