imageKARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Sindh Secretary General Senator Nehal Hashmi has hailed the removal of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif's name by journalists' consortium, which was behind the release of Panama Papers containing details of offshore companies, from all its news stories.

Talking to APP here on Wednesday, the PML-N leader said that the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) has admitted its mistake and clarified that due to an editing error Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif's name had wrongly appeared in news report saying that he controlled an offshore company.

Nehal Hashmi said that as the ICIJ had removed the name of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif from the list of offshore companies, media keeping in view the values of journalism should prominently cover that clarification, so that the nation could know that Prime Minister's name was not in the list of offshore companies.

Answering a question, he said that conspirators in the past as well through their baseless propaganda tried to destabilise PML-N government and created obstacles in development projects, particularly China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, but judicial commission on the basis of facts rejected their all allegations. He said such elements were busy against the stability and development of the country.
