KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Saturday decided to enhance the amount of Shuhda compensation from Rs 2 million to Rs 6 million.
"Life is priceless but it is our humble effort to extend financial help to the heirs of our brave policemen who embrace martyrdom for the sake of their country and its people," he said presiding over a meeting to decide the matters of recruitment in police and compensation here at the CM House Saturday.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Siddique Memon, Inspector General of Police (IGP) AD Khwaja, Principal Secretary Alamuddin Bullo and others.
The Chief Minister said that the compensation was being given to the policemen who laid their lives in line of their duty, was not enough.
"A grieved family cannot survive on a meager compensation of Rs 2 million. Therefore, I have decided to enhance it from Rs 2 million to Rs 6 million," he said and directed the IGP AD Khwaja to move a summary for the purpose.
