ISLAMABAD: Surgical goods and medical instruments exports from the country during last eight months of current financial year grew by 4.66 percent as compared to the exports of corresponding period of last year.
Surgical goods and medical instruments worth US$ 233.779 million were exported during the period from July-February, 2015-16 which were up by 4.66 percent as compared the exports of same period of last financial year.
According the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), surgical goods and medical instruments worth US$ 223.377 million were exported during first eight months of last financial year.
However, during the period under review cutlery exports decreased by 9.04 percent as it came down from US$ 56 million to US$ 5 million.
The data reveled that exports of onyx manufactured increased by 3.83 percent as 2,213 metric tons of onyx valuing US$ 5.147 million exported during eight months of current financial year as compared to 2,141 metric tons worth US$ 4.95 million exports of same period last year.
During the period from July-February, about 7,770 metric tons of pharmaceutical products worth US$ 137.620 million exported as compared to the exports of 10,335 metric tons valuing US$ 140.328 million of same period last year which were down by 1.93 percent.
On month-on-month basis, exports of surgical goods and medical instruments witnessed 3.95 percent growth in month of February, 2016 as compared to same month of last year.
Country earned US$ 29.87 million by exporting the surgical goods and medical instruments in last month as compared to exports of US$ 28 million of same month last year.
In month of February, the exports of chemical and pharmaceutical products also witnessed 24.31 percent increase as pharma products worth US$ 69 million exported.
