imageBADIN: Pakistan Peoples Party MNA Dr Nafeesa Shah has alleged that the Mirza group committed rigging in Local Government (LG) polls in Badin district in connivance with the district returning officer and the party would challenge the results of 12 union councils (UCs).

Addressing a press conference here at Chang House on Friday, she alleged that Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza had won the majority seats through the rigging. The district returning officer, she claimed, changed

22 polling stations a night before LB polls to allegedly favour Dr Mirza.

She said the PPP was expecting the 70 percent results in its favour.

The party had won four town committees and 32 UCs, and it was still the single largest party after the results of second phase of LG polls.

Speaking on the occasion, MNA Sardar Kamal Chang, Syed Ali Bux alias Pappu Shah and Bibi Yasmeen Shah alleged the DRO had changed the polling stations after being bribed, which resulted into defeat for PPP candidates in Badin and Tando Bago tehsils.

They said the PPP candidates lost in 12 UCs under a conspiracy and they would challenge their results in court.

Provincial minister Dr Sikander Mandhro was also present at the press conference.

At the occasion two independent elected councilors of the district council including Shah Mehmood Nizamani from UC Malhan and Nasir Ahmed Virk from UC Ghazi Khan Chang, Shahid Ahmed Rind from UC New Dumbalo and Jan Mohammad Korai the chairman elect- from UC New Dumbalo and Mohammad Ibrahim Halepoto UC Ghazi Khan Chang announced to join PPP.
