imageKARACHI: Sindh police in efforts to expand and update training of its personnel has equipped itself with Computer wise Stress Analyser (CVS A-II), proven to markedly improve investigative capacities of the interrogators.

A session, presided by Inspector General of Police (Sindh), Ghulam Haider Jamali was held here Friday morning for needed orientation of the police officials upto SP ranks in the system being introduced.

On the occasion Deputy Chief of Special Investigation, Missouri, USA, Greg Martin, briefed the officials about the application and means to acquire optimum for their professional benefit.

In his presentation, he said CVSA is a gadget that is particularly helpful to gauge authenticity of the statements made by culprits as well as witnesses.

Greg on basis of his personal experience said no less than 90% of the analysis of statements procured through CVS --II have proven to be correct and has greatly helped in investigation of wide range of criminal cases.

He said its application is extremely easy and the microphone attached to the computer helps in assessing the changes registered in the velocity of the voice of the person questioned.

This velocity and any change in the tone or speed of the concerned person's speech, he said is extremely essential to assess the statement.

"CVSA helps immediate conversion of sound into graphic form besides recording of the calls made via phone and simultaneous conversion of these again into graphics," said the expert.

On the occasion IG-Sindh Police said the department would expand the training sphere involving optimum number of investigation officers so as to fine tune the existing interrogation system.

Equal attention, Jamali said would be towards data compilation requisite to curtail and contain criminal incidents.
