imageISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain has said the country's defence products has gained international recognition and Federal government would endeavour to seek fresh markets and thereby increase its defence exports.

He axpressed these views during the visit to Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF). The Minister said necessary funds would be released during next fiscal year for POF to enhance its production capacity further.

The Minister said that due to lower cost and high standard, the ordnance is in great demand.

"We could increase our production capacity by outdating old infrastructure," he said.

The Minister said that various European countries are strengthening their economies on the footing of ammunition export.

He said the government is fully aware of the requirement of its defence forces and has taken many steps to meet them. He said defence of the country could not be compromised at any cost.

The minister said that the world has acknowledged the professional competency of Pakistani defence products and the defence industry is making big strides to attain further technological proficiency.

Rana Tanveer expressed his satisfaction over the performance of POF and said that the basic mandate, given to this defence institution, was being fully met.

The Federal Minister said he was glad that POF has introduced new weapons and ammunition, and admired the high skill of the workforce of POF.

Appreciating the hardworking of POF, the minister said the Premier defence institution has earned a good name at international level. Federal Minister expressed his satisfaction over modernization plan and assured his complete support for the completion of this plan.

Federal Minister was taken to product Display Lounge where he witnessed a wide variety of POF products.

He appreciated the quality of POF products and admired POF's role of its contributions for national defence and economy. He assured POF of all possible help in gearing up the production momentum at International level.

The Federal Minster was briefed about production capabilities and it was informed that POF was the premier defence production complex of the country which is manufacturing a wide variety of conventional arms and ammunition for armed forces of Pakistan.

Secretary MoDP Lt Gen. Shahid Iqbal (Retd) and members of POF Board & Senior Directors, were also present on the occasion.
