ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its judgment in a case regarding postings, appointments, deputations etc by the interim government and stated it would pass a short order in the case on June 10.
A three-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry and Justice Gulzar Ahmed resumed hearing in a suo-motu case regarding the illegal postings, appointments, deputations and termination of contract by the interim set up.
During the course of proceeding, officers from different departments and ministries presented separate petitions against the federation to solve their miseries.
The officers stated that either their contract period was not completed and they were transferred by the federal government or they were not allowed to complete their deputation period.
These officers include Commissioner Islamabad Tariq Mehmood Pirzada, Chairman National Fertilizers Corporation Rizwan Mumtaz Ali, Chief Executive Trade Development Authority Rai Muhammad Nawaz Kharal, Deputy Inspector General of Islamabad Police Tahir Alam Khan and others.
Some of the petitions were dismissed by the bench as they did not fall under the criteria, while others were reserved for judgment.
However, the bench reserved its judgment which would be announced on Monday, June 10.
Meanwhile, Syed Adil Gillani, chief of Transparency International Pakistan also appeared before the court and apprised to the court that Salman Farooqui was appointed Federal Ombudsman by the federal government on March 1, but no notification was issued by the government and it was kept secret.
He criticized that Farooqui was holding dual office as he was already serving as the Principal Secretary to the President at the same time.
The court sought reply from the Attorney General and the Ministry of Law regarding the appointment.
Later, the court directed the Principal Secretary to the President to file a reply before the court and adjourned further hearing till June 10.
