HYDERABAD: Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice Zahid Kurban Alavi (Retd) has said that PC-I of M-9 Project for the construction of Super Highway between Hyderabad and Karachi has been completed and it is to be executed soon after assumption of power by the new provincial government.
The Highway will provide better transportation facilities to the common man and specially to the industrialists of the province, the CM added.
He said this while addressing a dinner reception hosted in his honour by the management of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (HCCI) here at Circuit House Hyderabad on Thursday night.
Expressing his disappointment over the ban on PIA services to Hyderabad Airport, the Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister assured the industrialists that he will take this matter to the authority concerned.
He assured the industrialists that the matter regarding the handing over of possession of 300 acres of allotted land for the establishment of SITE Phase-II Hyderabad will be resolved on priority basis.
Alavi also announced for providing two acres of land for the establishment of technology up-gradation and skilled development centre at Hyderabad for which the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is extending financial support.
He said that this centre is aimed to provide skilled development opportunities for the youth of Hyderabad and it to be helpful in reducing unemployment ratio at Hyderabad.
Referring to different problems of the industrialists cited in the welcome address, the Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister was of the view that each industrial site must have its separate site management so that the problems of the industrialists are resolved at their door steps.
He said that within a shortest period, the caretaker government has issued ten Ordinances for the betterment of the common people which include health bill, Thalassemia bill, and HIV prevention bill.
He said that now it has become mandatory for a couple intending to wed to get their Thalassemia tests before their marriage. He said that this will not only be helpful for reducing this disease but also health bill of the people.
Expressing his apprehension over the increasing numbers of HIV patients, the Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister said that the barbers' shops and recycling of used syringes are also the main cause for the spread of this disease.
He said that this practice will be curbed by the administration concerned and asked the Deputy Commissioners to take action against those who are using un-sterilised equipments for the people.
Talking about another social problem being experienced in Darul0 Amaan, the Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister expressed his displeasure over the performance of the management concerned.
He said that the female destitutes who are compelled to get shelter in Darul Amaan are not being provided required shelter. He said that this problem could be resolved with the help of public participation especially the industrialists would have to play their role.
Earlier, Senior Vice President HCCI Turab Ali Khowaja in his welcome address apprised the Caretaker Chief Minister about some problems being faced by the industrialists of Hyderabad which include the ban on PIA services to Hyderabad Airport, deteriorated condition of Super Highway, provision of two acres of land for the establishment of a "technology upgrading and skilled development centre" at Hyderabad and handing over of 300 acres of allotted land for Hyderabad Site Phase-II.
He also congratulated the Caretaker Chief Minister for successful conduct of fair, free and transparent General Elections 2013 and termed it a positive step towards strengthening democracy in the country.
Vice President of HCCI Ziauddin also spoke on this occasion.
Among others, the Caretaker Provincial Ministers including Sharif Ansari, Khalid Latif, Advisor Haroon Farooque, Commissioner Hyderabad Dr. Riaz Ahmed Memon and Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Muhammad Nawaz Sohu were also present on the occasion.
