BEIJING: Pakistan's Ambassador to China, Masood Khalid has been nominated as honorary Chairman of the Seventh Global Village by the Tsinghua University, China's leading educational institution.
The Ambassador was presented the tablet of appointment on the occasion of the 'Global Village' cultural expo held at the Tsinghua University Campus, here yesterday.
Expressing his gratitude to the Tsinghua University, Ambassador Masood Khalid lauded the idea of Global Village and said such events give an opportunity to students to display their way of life and culture to each other bringing them together to make lasting bonds of friendship.
He also said that Tsinghua University is one of the finest universities of China and has produced national and international leaders as well as scientists, engineers and IT specialists.
The Ambassador said that "Pakistan and China enjoy all-weather relationship. The hearts of our people beat together. We have love and affection for each other. This love will grow stronger with the passage of time."
The Ambassador visited colorful booths of 25 countries including the two stalls set up by Pakistani students and complimented them on excellent arrangements. On this occasion, a group of Pakistani students presented the famous national song 'Dil Dil Pakistan'.
Professor Yuan Si, Vice President of Tsinghua University informed the Ambassador that nearly 30,000 students are studying in various disciplines in the University.
Prof. Li Xiguang, Dean, Tsinghua University International Center for Communication Studies, and Director Pakistan Study Center was also present on the occasion.
