LAHORE: A full bench of the Lahore High Court on Monday adjourning the hearing of a petition filed by Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf for seeking permission to contest elections from NA-139, Kasur, ordered to fix it before any LHC single bench.
The full bench headed by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan was hearing the matter.
During the hearing, the bench addressing Pervez Musharraf's counsel questioned that APML had boycotted elections then why petition was moved against Musharraf's disqualification.
However, the counsel took the stance that he wanted to clear his client's position.
The bench adjourning the matter ordered to fix it before any single bench.
Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf through his petition assailed orders of the returning officer and election tribunal which declared him ineligible to contest elections from NA-139, Kasur.
He submitted that although cases were pending against him but he was not yet convicted in any matter.
He contended that it was his fundamental right to contest election but the returning officer and the election tribunal had declared him ineligible to contest election from NA-139.
He pleaded the court to set aside orders of the returning officer and the tribunal and allow him to contest election from NA-139, Kasur.
