ISLAMABAD: The 75th death anniversary of national poet Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal will be observed in the country on April 21st (Sunday) to acknowledge his services for acquiring a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Subcontinent.
Allama Muhammad Iqbal was Born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877. He is also recognised as national poet, and known as Muffakir-e-Pakistan, Shair-e-Mashriq and Hakeemul Ummat.
He is also considered one of the most important figures in literature with literary works in both Urdu and Persian languages. Asrar-e-Khudi, Payam-i-Mashriq, Bang-i-Dara, Bal-i-Jibril, Zarb-i Kalim and Armughan-e-Hijaz were amongst his best works.
Various social, political and cultural organizations will hold special programmes to pay homage to the Hakeem-Ul-Ummat. Radio Pakistan will broadcast special programmes to pay homage to the great poet.
Newspapers will publish special editions and TV channels would air different programmes to mark Allama Iqbal's death anniversary.
The Muslims of the Indian Subcontinent under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah succeeded in materialising the dream of Allama Iqbal in the form of Pakistan.
He passed away in Lahore on April 21, 1938.
