The plant is located in Faisalabad Industrial Estate which will give the country an opportunity to export breakfast cereals processed using Pakistani maize.

According to a press release issued here, the plant built by Agroventures (Pvt) Ltd was inaugurated by a prominent Swiss industrialist Baron Lorne Thyssen-Bornemisza in Faisalabad on Monday.

Breakfast cereals are an important part of the diet in many countries around the world. Developed countries export in excess of $5 billion of corn flakes and other cereals around the world.

Pakistan has excellent quality maize which is the primary raw  material in breakfast cereals, but is currently not exporting any cereal.

On the occasion, Baron Lorne Thyssen-Bornemisza said that Pakistan has huge potential in becoming a major global player in value-added agribusiness processing.

He said that Federal and Punjab Governments are strongly supporting agribusiness investment in Pakistan, and international investors should take advantage of this opportunity.

Baron Lorne Thyssen-Bornemisza has also announced a further US$30 million investment, with Agroventures founder Aamer A. Sarfraz, in value-added grain procession in Punjab.
