Producers, manufacturers to display PSQCA logo

KARACHI: The Director General of Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA), Muhammad Junaid Qureshi, has asked the producers and manufacturers to display the Authority's logo on their products by January 31, 2011.

Failing which the Authority will be constrained to take action under the rules, he said in a statement issued here.

Junaid further pointed out that the PSQCA had previously given them a three-month period for this purpose, which has already expired. He maintained that it has been observed that even some of the companies registered with it are not complying with the requirement.

It had also sent a letter to all producers of food items to apply for registration with it failing which they would be facing action by the Authority.

They are required to ensure that the packing of their products mentions net weight of the product, details of the ingredients, nutrition value of each item, and manufacturing and expiry dates.

The Authority would also send them a letter in this regard shortly.

Junaid said that we are working to consumers satisfaction and to prevent substandard and un-registered products from the markets and to advise manufacturers to get licence within 15 days and registered with PSQCA.
