MOSCOW: The Russian rouble weakened in early official trade on Thursday to a weighted average for tomorrow's settlement of 28.4356 per dollar compared with 28.2945 in the previous session.
The average weighted rate, set at a joint trading session of eight exchanges across the country, serves as the basis for the central bank's dollar/rouble rate the following day.
Versus the euro, the rouble weakened to a weighted average for today's settlement of 39.3375 at the end of official trade, compared with 39.2678 in the previous session.
Against the central bank's basket, made up of 0.55 dollars and 0.45 euros and used as a guide for exchange rate policy, the rouble gave up 4 kopecks to 33.39 compared with 33.35 at Wednesday's closing.
