ISLAMABAD: Television sets are in high demand in the local markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi as Cricket World Cup is in full swing.

Many of the retailers are competing to attract customers who are in the market. The demand of high-definition television sets is increasing rapidly, according to retailers.

"Customers are no longer interested in conventional TV sets. They come in enquiring about the best ones in the market, usually the latest sets. However, big-screen LEDs and LCDs are being sold like hot cakes," said a dealer in one of the major electronic brands here.

"The demand hike is mainly because most of the customers want to have a better watching experience," he said.

"We bought a big-screen set recently so as to enjoy world cup matches in a more better way. Though we are not on the spot, we are not going to miss any festivity; I along with my friends will cheer for our favourite teams," said a young cricket enthusiast. Meanwhile, the world cup matches will be screened live in many hotels, cinemas and public places.
