ISLAMABAD: Spokesman to Prime Minister Nadeem Afzal Chan Thursday said the positive change would be observed in country's institutions, economy and other sectors soon due to concrete and kinetic measures taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had already announced a Ramazan package and given subsidies on edibles items to diminish the inflation and reduce poverty, he said talking to a private news channel.
The spokesman said the previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government had badly damaged the institutions and economy through redundant policies and programmes. He said the elections of the new local government system in Punjab would be conducted within one year to facilitate the common people at grass roots level. The new local government system was imperative and important to provide basic facilities at city and village level.
An old local bodies system had not delivered for the welfare and betterment of the province as streets were not carpeted in many big and small cities.
Nadeem Afzal Chan said the system would resolve all issues of domestic level, adding according to 18th amendment, provision of quality education, best medical facilities, improvement in sanitary and drainage system was provincial subject.
Replying to a question, he said the federal cabinet had directed the committee to recommend names of three experts from the private sector for the Federal Broad of Revenue (FBR) chairman to revamp the institution for achieving the objective, including maximum revenue collection.
The previous governments had also hired the services of technocrats and experts to streamline the revenue collection system, he added.
