RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) chairman Mirza Saleem Baig Thursday said Direct to Home (DTH) boxes would be introduced by November this year.

Addressing to All Pakistan Satellite Goods Association and Traders Union while destroying illegal Indian DTH & C-line equipment at Imperial Market (Al -Faisal Market) Raja Bazaar, he urged the satellite news and current affairs channels, to highlight positive developments in the country and promote optimism to build healthy society, instead of portraying a bad image.

He said PEMRA would not allow to promote Indian culture, adding strict action would be taken against those cable operators who will be found airing Indian content.

The chairman further said he was well aware of the issues of the cable operators. “Whatever we are doing, we are doing it for the betterment of the cable operators,” he added.

The PEMRA chairman appreciated the role of traders association, honouring PEMRA laws.

He further said availability of Illegal Indian DTH was a potential threat to Pakistani DTH.

All Pakistan Satellite Goods Association, Rawalpindi Electronics Dealers Association, along with traders also burnt the Indian DTH on the occasion.
