Govt making all out efforts to strengthen national economy

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform, Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiyar Friday said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led government was making all out efforts to strengthen national economy as it was taking different concrete steps for the purpose.
The incumbent government was bringing visible improvement in every sector of life in the country as compared to previous governments including Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), he said while talking to a private news channel.
He said Gross Development Product (GDP) could be increased through starting several development projects in the country by taking loans but it would be artificial not sustainable policy which would not appropriate.
He said foreign reserves had increased and fiscal deficit decreased due to prudent economic policies of the government as foreign direct investment was also increase which was ample prove that the international community was showing interest to invest in Pakistan.
The minister said PTI was the only federation level political party in this time in the country because it was enjoying the mandate from all over Pakistan and people had showed their confidence on the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, adding that time was not far away when South Punjab province would be established and the government would make fully empower and develop to the Secretariat of the South Punjab.
Replying to a question, he said the government was not make compromise on any project of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Funding requirements of all the projects which would started under the CPEC were fully protected, he added.
Khusro Bakhtiyar said some section of the Western media was busy for propagating against the CPEC and global politics was also involved in that regard.
He said the government to continue and accelerate the current momentum of the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Prime Minister Imran Khan held the groundbreaking of the CPEC Western Route and the Gwadar airport, along with a hospital and a vocational training institute, which showed the government accorded top priority to the development of Gwadar under CPEC, he added.
To another query about NAB, he said there was no any inquiry was being held against him regarding assets beyond means as National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had already issued clarification about the matter.
