Warm and dry weather is likely to continue across the metropolis in the next three days but the upcountry to witness scattered rainfall from Sunday to Friday, the Met Office said on Saturday. Temperature in Karachi is expected to range between 35 degrees Celsius and 37 degrees Celsius until April 16, as the Met forecast humidity level up to 80 percent with warm and dry weather.
A shallow westerly wave is likely to affect western and upper parts of the country. The new weather system is expected to unleash scattered rain-thundershowers with gusty winds in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA, Islamabad, Upper Punjab, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while isolated falls central/southern Punjab Sunday to Friday.
"There is high risk of landslides in mountainous and sub-mountainous areas of KP, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan and isolated hailstorm are also likely during the period," it alerted. Weather in the next 24 hours: Isolated rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected in Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Rawalpindi and Sargodha Divisions, besides Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and FATA.
There are chances of gusty winds to raise dust across the Central and Southern Punjab and Upper Sindh. Maximum temperature was recorded in Chhor and Mithi as 43 degrees Celsius, each, Shaheed Benazirabad 42, Rahim Yar Khan, Dadu, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Padidan and Turbat 41, each. "A westerly wave is affecting western parts of the country and likely to affect central & upper parts of the country on Sunday," the Met said.
