Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) said on Thursday that it is deplorable that the incumbent government, which is going to complete its term shortly, is bent upon presenting fiscal budget for the next financial year which is not its mandate. The party's Central Executive Committee, which met here with party Chairman Imran Khan, made it clear that the incumbent government has no mandate to present the next budget.
"There are hardly 45 days left when the term of the government will be over, so how it can prepare the next budget. We have passed a resolution against this move and the government must refrain from presenting the next budget," said a statement issued by the party after the meeting. Talking to journalists, Khan announced that party members who sold their votes during the Senate elections would be kicked out from the party.
Referring to horse-trading by party MPAs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said the party is going to constitute a legal team against those who have violated the code of conduct during the recently held Senate elections. With regards to the demand of a separate province in south Punjab by ruling party members, he said he supports the move and added that if local governments had been empowered enough, there would be no demand of another province.
"We brought the chairman Senate from Balochistan to strengthen the federation," said the PTI chief, adding that the party is striving for FATA to get rights. Khan added that the people of Pakistan were pleased with the recent decisions of the Supreme Court. Imran questioned the government's intention of introducing next year's federal budget when it is about to end its tenure. "The government's tenure is ending in 45 days but it is presenting next year's budget," he complained, adding that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak will not present the province's budget.
Imran also praised the apex court's decision on granting voting rights to overseas Pakistanis and condemned his political opponent Fazlur Rehman's statement regarding it. Talking about caretaker governments, he said they are installed in Pakistan as there is always a fear of rigging and dishonesty. He claimed that the last caretaker government had failed to ensure free and fair elections.
