Around 193 degrees were conferred during first-ever Bachelor Studies (BS) programme convocation, held at University of Peshawar on Saturday. According to the details, the much awaited Bachelor Studies convocation of 2009-13 and 2010-14 batches, University of Peshawar. During the convocation, around 21 gold medals were also awarded to graduating students.
The Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar, Professor Dr Muhammad Asif Khan graced the occasion after honourable chief guest Governor/Chancellor Engr. Iqbal Zafar Jhagra couldn't make it to event due to official engagements. Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor, University of Peshawar Professor Dr Muhammad Asif Khan has called upon students to become ambassadors for University of Peshawar to serve society, country and humanity at large.
The VC further said that University of Peshawar is the legacy trustee of the founding fathers of Pakistan Quaid -e -Azam and Allama Muhammad Iqbal. He said that thinker of Pakistan in a resolution at Punjab legislative assembly session in 1928, envisioned the creation of University of Peshawar.
The VC University of Peshawar while talking to students, parents and academia said that during last five months under his command has been largely spent on the reorganization of structures at University of Peshawar. The prominent among those are Rs 440 million investments on labs expansion, initiation of Incubation centre, Centre of Mathematical Sciences and ORIC/QEC development.
He said that a Task force is working to cope with the financial deficit of the University of Peshawar. He said that administration is working on war footing to develop Campus Management System to give one window solution to students and to get rid of cumbersome paper work in vogue. The Gold medalists students of the BS batches were also given cash prizes.
The VC thanked all the administration and faculty who were part of convocation committee and especially Dean of Life and Environmental Sciences Dr Bashir Ahmad for his spirited services in short span of time.
