ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has imposed Rs 1.15 million fine on marketing companies for overcharging.

"The Enforcement Department of OGRA has imposed penalties on more than 20 Oil Marketing Companies amounting to Rs 1,150,000 due to violation of prescribed rules and regulations. Resultantly, the prices of petrol, LPG and CNG remained effectively controlled," the authority's spokesperson said.

He said the revolutionary steps had been taken following complaints from the general public.

He said enforcement department had increased number of raiding teams to inspect the petrol pumps and CNG stations and taken punitive action against violators.

Some of the companies fined included PSO, Rs.650,000, Shell Rs150,000, Chevron 50,000, Total Parco, Rs.50,000, Admore, Rs.100,000

and APL Rs150,000.
