The Karachi Port handled 251,551 tonnes of cargo comprising 187,206 tonnes of import cargo and 64,345 tonnes of export cargo including 6,541 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 187,206 tonnes comprised of 101,303 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20,262 tonnes of general cargo; 3,100 tonnes of rock phosphate and 62,541 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 64,345 tonnes comprised of 64,345 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 6,541 containers comprising of 3,985 containers import and 2,556 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,410 of 20's and 1,275 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 12 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 789 of 20's and 254 of 40's loaded containers while 419 of 20's and 420 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were ten ships namely Shanghai Trader, Sabya, Taroko, MSC Chiara, Prosper, Nave Andromeda, Oriental Marguerite, Daedalus Leader, Positive Pioneer and Lian Hua Song carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were ten vessels viz. Cosco Sao Paulo, MSC Chiara, Prosper, Xin Zhang Zhou, Octaden, RAS Ghumays-1, Daedalus Leader, Positive Pioneer, Jin Ji and Hasan carrying containers, oil tanker, phosphate, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Osaka Tower, Athina and Fareast Harmony carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo sailed out to sea on Monday.
There were three vessels viz. X-Press Kailash, Alpine Persefone and Oriental Queen carrying containers, mogas and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday while eight vessels viz. Northern Dependant, Cosco Boston, Ever Divine, Pretty World, Sagar Kanta, Vil Baltic, Han Ren and Akdeniz-M carrying containers, mogas, coal, steel and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 98,286 tonnes includes 23,147 tonnes of furnace oil; 13,100 tonnes of palm oil; 1,420 tonnes of LPG; 8,700 tonnes of coal; 1,550 tonnes of project cargo and 50,369 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,490 tonnes includes 32,490 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,361 containers comprising of 2,651 containers import and 1,710 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were two ships namely CV Express Kailash and MT Harmony-1 carrying containers and oil tanker sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Express Kailash, CV Safmarine Ngami, CV MSC Rita, MV Jumbo Kinetic, MV Fu Ming, MT Liberty-N, MT Harmony-1 and MT Bunga Alamanda currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen ships namely CV Al Hilal, MV Happy Penguin, MV Saadong Hai Yao, MV Achilleas, MT IGLC Anka, MT Nordic Gas, MT Shalamar, MT Lahore, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Ashada, MT Gold Pacific, MT Grand Ace-1 and MT Bunga Angelica carrying containers, project cargo, soyabean seeds, coal, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Monday.
There were four vessels viz. CV MSC Maeva, CV Al Hilal, MV Saadong Hai Yao and MT Nordic Gas carrying containers, soyabean seeds and LPG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grains & Fertilizer Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were five ships namely CV Al-Hilal, MV Finsse, MV Vera, MT A Arietis and MT Bunga Akasia carrying containers, project cargo, diesel oil and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Monday.
There are two ships namely CV MSC Al-Ghero, and CV Northern Monument carrying containers are due to arrive on Tuesday, while two more ships namely CV Maersk Salina and MT Brizo carrying containers and furnace oil respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
