ISLAMABAD: Central Information Secretary PPP, Qamar Zaman Kaira Tuesday said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) did not believe in politics of deadlines and was strengthening political culture in the country.

Talking to a private news channel he said, PPP is promoting politics of reconciliation in the country in larger national interest.

To a question about 10 point agenda, he said it is not only of PML-N rather, it is agenda of MQM, PML-Q and even of the government and we were working on it prior to the demand of PML-N.

He said, if the government had implemented the entire agenda, then too, PML-N remained an opposition party like now.

He said, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was our opposition party and still it is an opposition.

It is the time for national unity and solidarity to counter challenges being faced by the country on different fronts, he said.

To another question he said, politics of confrontation was buried by PPP and a new political culture was introduced in the country by promoting reconciliatory policy.

He said that the government was committed to serve the masses despite all odds. The elements engaged in conspiracies would not succeed in their nefarious designs, he added.

He further said, concerted efforts needed to be taken by all political forces of the country to strengthen democratic system of the country.

He said, all problems which are presently being confronted by the country can be removed through consultation and reconciliation.

The government took on board the PML-N on all issues of national interest.

To a question he said, PPP does not want to quit the coalition government in Punjab province as the party is promoting politics of reconciliation in the country in larger national interest.

"We want good governance, rule of law, elimination of corruption and poverty from the country and trying hard in this regard," he said.

To a question he said, PPP is party of federation having representatives of all four provinces of the country. The party tried to protect the interest of the country but not at the cost of federation of Pakistan.

To another question he enumerated a number of steps taken by the government to provide relief to the masses and said, the government is trying to fulfill demands of the people. The government has increased 110 percent salaires of government employees during last three years in view of the price hike and inflation in the country.

Under Benazir Income Support Programme, millions of poor and needy families of the country are being supported and being provided financial assistance, he said adding, the government did not claim that all problems have been eliminated.

Prior to the present regime, Pakistan was victim of food insecurity but due to solid steps and prudent policy of the government, today the country has 20 lac tones surplus wheat stocks. Rice crop production as well as cotton production has also increased, he added.

He further said, agro based economy in rural areas of the country has improved while in urban economy, there are some problems which are being addressed.
