ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Friday adjourned hearing of a case till April 16, challenging the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) about removing Dr. Farooq Sattar as convener of MQM Pakistan.
The petitioner’s counsel Baber Sattar completed his arguments during the last day hearing, which was conducted by Justice Aamer Farooq of IHC.
During the proceeding, the petitioner’s counsel contended that ECP was not authorized to intervene into internal affairs of any political party. He requested the court to declare the ECP decision as null and void.
The IHC bench directed the defense counsel Barrister Faroog Naseem to give his arguments on next date of hearing and adjourned the case.
It may be mentioned here that during the last proceeding, the court had suspended the ECP decision and served notices to the respondents including ECP, MQM-P leaders Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Kanwar Naveed Jameel.
