Hong Kong shares close down

HONG KONG: Hong Kong stocks fell on Thursday, ending a four-day rally, as traders cashed in gains while they were also nervously watching events in the Middle East after Donald Trump threatened a military strike in Syria.

The Hang Seng Index slipped 0.21 percent, or 66.43 points, to 30,831.28.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.87 percent, or 27.92 points, to 3,180.16 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, fell 0.58 percent, or 10.70 points, to 1,840.27.
