The Supreme Court (SC) took back its order of placing the names of the former managing directors of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) from last 10 years on the Exit Control List (ECL).

The SC revised its order after the managing directors agreed not to leave the country. However, they would be allowed to travel abroad only on SC's permission, local media reported.

Once the suo motu case hearing resumed on Thursday morning regarding privatization of national asset, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar  had ordered the names of the managing directors who have served the national carrier in last 10 years to be placed on the ECL.

The CJP said that all those who had ruined PIA are enemies and traitors. The SC has also ordered submission of a list of all chairmen, advisors and managing directors of PIA who have ever served the airline.

The court was informed that PIA had suffered a loss of Rs 260.39 billion during the last 17 years. The apex court has sought a report from the federal government on the privatization of PIA and has summoned the attorney general in the next hearing.

On April 6, the CJP had summoned all the managing directors of PIA, holding the charge in the last ten years to appear in the top court on April 12 (today).
