Court rejects Sharif's plea regarding Avenfield supplementary reference

An accountability court rejected on Monday the objection raised by the Sharif family pertaining to the supplementary

An accountability court rejected on Monday the objection raised by the Sharif family pertaining to the supplementary reference in connection to the Avenfield flats reference.

Judge Muhammad Bashir had reserved his verdict earlier regarding the petition filed by the deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif  in the Avenfield flats reference. The court has now decided that the supplementary reference will be made a part of Avenfield flats reference.

According to local media reports, Sharif's counsel Khawaja Harris and his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar's lawyer Amjad Pervez objected to the supplementary reference, which had been connected to the London properties reference.

Sharif, Maryam and Safdar appeared in the court today for hearing from Punjab House. Sharif was also summoned by the Supreme Court today, pertaining to the Article 62(1) (f) of the Constitution under which he had been disqualified but he has failed to appear before the court.

NAB files supplementary reference with new evidence against Sharifs

The Sharif family has also been filed in a petition which the Islamabad High Court accepted earlier. The petition claims that Sharif and Maryam have been issuing, broadcasting statements which ridicule the judiciary.

The references against the Sharif family pertain to the Al-Azizia Steel Mills, Flagship Investment Ltd and Avenfield properties of London. Maryam and Safdar have been named in the Avenfield properties, whereas Sharif has been named in all three properties. Sharif’s sons Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz have been declared proclaimed offenders due to their continuous failure to appear before the court proceedings.
