ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Thursday said calligraphy was a great artistic and cultural heritage of the Muslims and both Muslim Ummah and Pakistan could promote their soft image by paying attention to this art.

He said this while talking to Calligrapher of Masjid-e-Nabvi Ustad Shafiq uz Zaman who along with a delegation called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr here.

He said it was a matter of honour for us that a Pakistani calligrapher had an opportunity to work in the Masjid-e-Nabwi (PBUH). It had not only earned goodwill for Shafiq uz Zaman but for the entire country, he added.

He underlined that young calligraphers would have an opportunity to explore modern trends of calligraphy through the work of Shafiq uz Zaman.

President Mamnoon underscored that the calligraphers should benefit from modern techniques and developments which would have a positive impact on their work.

He emphasized that calligraphy was cultural heritage of Muslims which needed to be further promoted.

On the occasion, prominent calligrapher Wasil Shahid also presented a compilation of the work of Pakistani calligraphy to the president.
