imageWASHINGTON: President-elect Donald Trump will officially be sworn in as the 45th president of the United States on Friday evening. All eyes of will be on Mr Trump as he takes the Oath of Office, and offers his inaugural address.

The main ceremony will be held at the White House, followed by a number of Inaugural Balls across the city of Washington DC.

The historic event began on Thursday afternoon when Trump's supporters enjoyed a Make America Great Again! Welcome Concert. Trump addressed the nation in shadow of Lincoln. According to the Guardian, Trump spoke at the Lincoln Memorial, where Martin Luther King Jr declared I have a dream, and told the largely white crowd: Youre not forgotten any more.

The US election was held on November 8, 2016, but Donald Trump does not officially become president until midday on January 20. Donald Trump encouraged his supporters to set an all time record for attendance, but planners are expecting about 800,000 people, well below President Obamas first inaugural.

Besides Trump, his family and the Obamas, several living ex-presidents will be in attendance. Jimmy Carter was the first to say he will attend, and so will George W. Bush. Former Vice President Dick Cheney also said he will be there. Both former President Bill Clinton and 2016 presidential election nominee Hillary Clinton are also slated to attend the ceremony, foreign media reported.

The ceremony is scheduled to start at 11:30 am local time.
