      <title>US stocks open solidly up on growth data</title>

&lt;p&gt;The Dow Jones Industrial index jumped above the 12,000 barrier shortly after the open, rising 15.74 points (0.13 percent) to 12,005.27.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The broader S&amp;P 500 was up 1.80 (0.14 percent) at 1,301.34.&lt;/p&gt;
