ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court was informed on Thursday that a UAE court had reserved its judgment over the deportation of former OGRA chief Tauqir Saddiq.
The three memebr-bench comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja, Justice Ijaz Afzal Khan and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain resumed the hearing of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) implementation case and the escape of its former chairman to the UAE.
It may be mentioned that Sadiq, who was charged with embezzling Rs 82 billion, had fled to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
During the course of proceedings, K.K Agha, prosecutor general National Accountability Bureau (NAB) informed the bench that proceedings against the former OGRA chief were continuing in the UAE court, which had reserved its verdict and would announce it on June 3.
On a query of Justice Jawwad, Zahid Nusrullah, Director General (DG) Middle East, said he did not know about the proceedings being conducted at the UAE court as he was not allowed to appear in the hearing.
The bench adjourned the case till June 6.
