HYDERABAD: The Consul General Republic of Korea Chan Hee Lee has said that Pakistan is a developing country and Korea desired to further strengthen the economic relations with Pakistan.
Addressing the members of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) here at the Chamber's Secretariat, he said that Korean trade quantum is above US dollars one trillion and having close relationship with Pakistan, Korea wanted to make maximum investment in the country as it is carrying out in other countries of the world.
He said that Pakistan is economically ranked as one of the developing countries of the world and with increasing population, skilled manpower with talented youth, it has a potential for investment. He hoped that the culture and trade relations with Pakistan will further be strengthened in future.
President HCCI Goharullah in his welcome address said that export of Pakistan products to Korean market is around USD 250 million, however the business and trade communities of Hyderabad fully realise the prospect of export of more Pakistan products in Korean markets.
He said that Hyderabad is playing a significant role in agro-based industries, textile, garments manufacturing, two and three wheelers automobile assembling and manufacturing units.
Being the second biggest city of the province, the trade hub and a peaceful city, he said that Hyderabad has the potential to contribute largely to the export trade. There is scope for Korean investors to make investment in coalmines and power sectors, he added.
He said that trade and business communities of Hyderabad are facing hardship in getting Korean visas and suggested that visas should be issued on the recommendation of HCCI.
Among others, Senior Vice President Turab Ali Khoja, Maqsood Ahmed Khan, Abdul Qayoom Nusrat, Ziauddin, Muhammad Shahid, Saleem A. Shaikh, Zulfiqar Ali Chohan, Haji Aslam, Abdul Sattar Khan, Nawab Khanzada, Nehal Shah, Khalid Umer Malik, Salahuddin Ghouri, Yawar Ali Shah, Sikandar Ali Dhandhuri, Haji Ikhtiar, Muhammad Arif, Yousuf Dada and Zia Masroor were also present on the occasion.
