Talking to a private news channel, she said America wants an outcome through military means in Afghanistan.

Commenting objectives of US Vice President Biden's visit to Pakistan, she said Pakistan is in favour of a political solution to the Afghan issue after a lengthy war and the visit has provided an opportunity to leadership of both Pakistan and Afghanistan to create harmony in their stances.

She added the visit has taken place after American President Barack Obama's tour of India and US Vice President has arrived to assure Pakistani leaders that the relations of the United States with Pakistan are also important because there had been concerns in Pakistani circles after President Obama's visit to India.

Dr. Lodhi said the visit has also provided opportunity to Pakistani leadership to ask American leadership for financial help as the financial crisis in Pakistan may have its effects on political stability in the country.
