PCAA issues fresh travel advisory for inbound flights

In its fresh advisory, the PCAA has added nine countries in Category C.
The guidelines will remain in place until March 14, the notification issued by the Director Air Transport department of PCAA said.

Lucknow-bound IndiGo plane from Sharjah made an emergency landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on Tuesday after one of its passengers fell ill.
The patient was declared dead on arrival in Karachi by the medical team.

Supreme Court says Senate elections to be held through secret ballot

A five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed opined that Senate elections would be held under Article 226 of the Constitution through secret balloting.
The SC also said that the Election Commission of Pakistan should use the latest technology to ensure fair and transparent elections.

HEC says regular five-day classes policy does not apply to universities

The HEC has clarified that all universities will continue to operate as per guidelines issued by the HEC earlier.
On February 25, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood had announced that all schools will go back to regular five-day classes from March 1.

UN welcomes Pakistan, India's 'positive step' on LoC ceasefire

"The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is encouraged by the joint statement issued by the militaries of India and Pakistan on their agreement to observing the ceasefire at the Line of Control in Kashmir and engaging through established mechanisms," a statement said.
The President of the UN General Assembly, Volkan Bozkir, also welcomed the agreement between Pakistan and India, saying that this accord has set an example for others and demonstrates the General Assembly's value.

PM thanks Sri Lankan leadership for allowing burial of COVID-19 victims

"I thank the Sri Lankan leadership & welcome the Sri Lankan govt's official notification allowing the burial option for those dying of Covid 19," the PM tweeted.
Sri Lanka lifted the controversial ban which it had imposed last year saying that the bodies of COVID-19 victims could only be cremated as the virus could spread by contaminating groundwater.

Pakistani, Indian DGMOs agree for strict observance of all agreements, cease firing along LoC, other sectors immediately

In the interest of achieving mutually beneficial peace, the two DGMOs agreed to address each other's core issues and concerns 'which have propensity to disturb the peace and lead to violence'.
The two sides also reiterated that existing mechanisms of hotline contact and border flag meetings will be utilised to resolve any unforeseen situation or misunderstanding.

"This announcement applies to every educational institutions in the designated cities where restrictions had been imposed," he tweeted.
Restrictions imposed in some major cities on schools to conduct staggered classes was only till February 28, Mahmood said.

NCOC eases restrictions on commercial activities as COVID-19 cases decline

Indoor wedding ceremonies will be allowed from March 21, with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS).
The Election Commission of Pakistan has also been allowed by the NCOC to hold local bodies and cantonment board elections by the end of May or early June.
