NEW YORK: Wall Street stocks inched higher early Thursday as hopes about the reopening economy offset another round of dreary data on employment and industrial orders.

The broad-based S&P 500 added 0.2 percent at 3,042.56, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index was up less than 0.1 percent at 9,414.85.
