(Karachi) Federal Information Minister Shibli Faraz has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has sought report on illegal recruitments in different government departments.

Addressing a press conference after cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said that the cabinet approved decisions regarding energy sector and to bring improvements in it. He said the federal cabinet has approved seven-point agenda, including election reforms.

He said the cabinet approved the names of the members of National Commission for Status of Women and National Bureau of Statistics. It also approved decisions taken by the Cabinet's Committee on Energy and Economic Coordination Committee.

The information minister said the cabinet reviewed matters pertaining to audit survey regarding embezzlement at Karachi Port Trust.

He said Planning Minister Asad Umar briefed the cabinet about the virus situation, the initiatives taken by the government and the progress regarding easing of the lockdown.

He maintained that the prime minister could not attend National Assembly session due to his engagements but he will attend the later session.

He pointed out it is the responsibility of the people to follow the SOPs and social distancing guidelines after the easing of the coronavirus lockdown. "If people continue getting ill, then it will have a bad effect on our hospital capacity and limitations. It is the responsibility of the people, it is for your nation," he said, adding that it was not known how long the crisis will last.

Faraz elaborated that the government could not continue lockdown in the country for an indefinite period as there is no time frame when the crisis would be over.

He remarked, "It will be best if we could protect our lives and keep businesses running as we don't have any other options."
