The meeting of Pak-China Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) will not be affected by the ongoing Coronavirus, said Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Wednesday.

Briefing to media persons, the federal minister said that the Coronavirus has reached Pakistan borders, but our work has not been affected so far. Umar said that the meeting of tenth JCC will be held in April, whereas, meetings of some working groups could also take place via video link.

The ongoing coronavirus health scare has so far killed more than 2,500 people, with about 80,000 infected globally, though China remains by far the worst hit. Just days ago, Pakistan again suspended its flight operations to and from China as the death toll from the Coronavirus rose. Pakistan has also closed its borders with neighbouring Iran after reports of Coronavirus were confirmed in the region.

Meanwhile, talking about the upcoming visit of China’s Presiden Xi Jinping to Pakistan, the federal minister informed that the date of the Chinese premier visit will be finalized soon.

Earlier, it was reported that China has asked Pakistan to convene the 10th JCC meeting in April 2020, instead of its scheduled time to be held in June/July.
