Sanaullah demands judicial commission to probe allegations against him

• PML-N leader says the government and the ANF should bring into light the evidence in drugs case.
• No individual in Pakistan is safe under the current circumstances: Sanaullah.
• Murad Saeed says ANF is a credible institution but it has been targeted after the PML-N leader was granted bail by the LHC.

(Karachi) Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior leader Rana Sanaullah said the government has ‘falsely implicated’ him in the drugs case and the Anti-Narcotics Force failed to submit concrete evidence in the court.

Lashing out at the government during the Parliament session, he demanded that a judicial commission be formed to investigate the case.  He said the government and the ANF should bring into light the evidence immediately.

He added, “No individual in Pakistan is safe under the current circumstances.”

Meanwhile, responding to Sanaullah’s allegations, Minister for Communications Murad Saeed said ANF is a credible institution but it has been targeted after the PML-N leader was granted bail by the Lahore High Court (LHC).

He recalled that the allegations of murder and connections with banned outfits against Sanaullah were not made by the PTI government but by his own party leaders.

Saeed mentioned that PTI believes in rule of law and democracy and Minister for State Sharyar Afridi will brief the house about Sanaullah’s case.

On December 24, 2019, the LHC issued orders to release Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Rana Sanaullah on bail in drugs case in the Anti-Narcotics Force.

The LHC directed the Sanaullah to submit two surety bonds of Rs0.10 million. The court had reserved the verdict in the case on October 2.

Rana Sanaullah was arrested by the ANF on July 1, 2019, while he was travelling to from Faisalabad to Lahore. The ANF officials claimed to have seized 15 kilogrammes of narcotics from his vehicle.

At least five people, including the driver and security guard of the former law minister were also nabbed.

Sanaullah had been in detention of the ANF for over six months. He faced 19 proceedings since the case was lodged against him by the ANF.
