Royal couple’s trip to Khyber Pass cancelled due to ‘logistical’ issues

• The royal couple landed in Islamabad after spending an unplanned night stay at a hotel in Lahore.
• The duke and duchess will visit an Army Canine centre before concluding their visit to Pakistan.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton finally landed in Islamabad on Friday morning after an unplanned night stay in Lahore due to poor weather condition.

The Royal Air Force Voyager, carrying the duke and duchess, aborted several landing attempts in Islamabad and nearby Rawalpindi due to severe turbulence caused by uncertain weather condition. Due to this, the royals returned to Lahore where they stayed the night at a hotel.

The royal couple was scheduled to visit Khyber Pass on the border with Afghanistan Friday morning. However, the trip has been cancelled now due to logistical problems, Daily Express's royal correspondent Richard Palmer tweeted. The royal highnesses will now visit an Army Canine centre, after which they will depart for Britain.

On Thursday, William and Kate visited Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Lahore. They interacted with children suffering from cancer and also visited the department hosting the hospital's radiation machine.
