Although federal minister for science and technology Fawad Chaudhry is widely known for causing considerable controversies through his remarks, he has increasingly shown prudence in his articulations in recent days and weeks. It was yesterday that he made it clear that the government was not in a position to create new job opportunities in its ministries, departments, etc., for some obvious reasons. According to him, the country's economy will receive a major setback in case government starts giving jobs. His is a valid argument. The incumbent government cannot afford to add any burden on the country's economy by reactivating employment bureaus in order to appease party's workers and supporters. Both the PML-N and PPP governments had caused immense harm to State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) by turning these entities into virtual employment bureaus without enhancing their productivity and capability. The PTI government's strategy is required to be supported. Of course it is no U-turn; it's sheer prudence.
