  • "UNGA Chief Antonio Guterres chief remains concern over IoK," spokersperson said.
  • Chief urge India and Pakistan to resolve issue through dialogue.

United Nation Secretary-General (UNGA) has reiterated that their stance on Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK) remains unchanged and they encourage dialogue between India and Pakistan to solve the issue.

On Friday, in a daily press briefing Spokesman for the Secretary General, Stéphane Dujarric, said their message on Kashmir has not changed as the situation on the ground has not changed.

"Our message on Kashmir has not changed as the situation on the ground has not changed, so I would refer you to what we’ve already said, expressing our concern, encouraging dialogue, and saying that the situation in Kashmir, if it’s going to be solved politically, needs to have human rights at its centre. Our position is unchanged on this," Dujarric told the presser.

In reply to a question why the UN has not visited the region to provide medicine, other relief items and visit prisoners, the UNGA spokesperson said that according to him, United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund 'have a presence' in IoK.

During his visit to US, Prime Minister Imran Khan discussed the Kashmir situation UNGA Chief Antonio Guterres. The PM highlighted the risks to regional peace and security that arose from India’s illegal and irresponsible actions. He also underscored the responsibility of the UN and the international community to take steps to save lives in IoK.

The UBGA chied had said that he would remain engaged on the issue and also conveyed that his offer to facilitate a peaceful solution of the Kashmir crisis continued to stand.
